GPS Vehicle Tracking Devices
GPS Position Tracking Devices
A position tracking device is the central element of any vehicle tracking solution. These devices are used to calculate a vehicle's location and movements and then send this data back to a central system where it can be viewed on the user's vehicle tracking application.
Almost all vehicle tracking units that are used for modern tracking solutions use GPS (Global Positioning System) technology to provide an accurate location. GPS vehicle tracking devices have a GPS antenna that is located within the vehicle, which continually receives the transmissions that are sent out from the network of GPS satellites that are orbiting the Earth.
The GPS vehicle tracking unit uses the satellite signals to calculate its current location, speed and direction of travel. All of this data is then sent back to the user, normally via the GPRS data network, where it is made available to business applications or simply to be viewed with a GPS tracking application.
Vehicle Position Tracking
.. full journey history, geofence boundaries, alerts by text message
Zest : trak's range of vehicle tracking systems are provideaccurate vehicle tracking to 10 second intervals and if required, report on start up and stop events, geofence alerts, and remote immobilisation (depending on installation).
As with all Zest : trak services, vehicles can be monitored through your Internet connected Windows PC.
Zest : trak vehicle tracking comes with free PC software that enables you to:
- see the history trail of the unit
- set up boundary alarms
- set speed alarms
- track up to 1000 vehicles at a time
.. and provides many other functions.
Zest : trak Rover is perfect for boats, trailers and caravans too, many combine it with a solar charger for long unattended periods without a power source. Distance cyclists do the same.
You can either install it yourself using instructions that are provided or get it professionally installed by our approved auto electricians.
Vehicle Parameter Monitoring
There are also more advanced tracking devices that are able to relay more data than just the vehicle's position and speed.
These devices are able to link into a vehicle's CAN-bus system. Most modern vehicles have a CAN-bus which allows vehicle ECUs (Electronic Control Units) to communicate with each other. A CAN-bus integrated tracking device can send specific information including: vehicle gear selection, engine RPM, MPG (miles per gallon) performance and the amount of fuel consumed in a journey.
With these more advanced GPS tracking devices, the concept of tracking a vehicle has been taken to a whole new level.
Zest : trak Vehicle Tracking
Now with Zest's vehicle tracking you can monitor everything that is going on within the vehicle and control critical systems remotely. The vehicle tracking system provides access to sensors telling you everything about the vehicle including for example:
- Who is driving
- Temperatures weights and door status
- Video feeds live and time lapsed
- Intelligence such as "doors open while moving" or "fuel reduced while stationary"
Sensor information, speed and location information combined with remote control of vehicle and other onboard systems, provides a complete remote onboard management system.
Customisation to suit specific cash in transit (CIT) or security requirements also available.
