FLEET TRACKING

Fleet tracking is a term that is generally used to differentiate the need of fleet managers for more than simply being able to track the location of their vehicles.

For example, fleet tracking systems may include the capability to monitor specific vehicle parameters by interfacing into the vehicles CANBUS so that the tracking unit can access and report on data such as engine revving, and fuel consumption as well as being able to report on other driving-style information such as the tendency for the driver to engage in heavy braking, fast corning, unnecessary acceleration and harsh impacts from speed bumps and curbs etc

By being able to access this data across an entire fleet it becomes viable to change the driving culture in a company and, importantly quantify the improvements and identify individual drivers in the fleet who need further attention.

In practice many fleet tracking systems are tailored to the particular needs and requirements of the company. For example, when carrying temperature sensitive loads, then we can ensure that ongoing temperature measurements are taken and relayed back via the tracking system. Temperature monitoring is normally used in refrigerated trailers. If the temperature rises or falls outside of pre-defined limits then the system can raise an alert via email, text message or in some other suitable way - as well as keeping an audit trail to prove that the temperature had always been within acceptable parameters.

In some cases driver security is important and the fleet tracking system can be extended to include a panic button or automated driver identification systems. Driver id systems give you confidence that you know which drivers have accessed the vehicle. In this case the driver can either have an electronic key or a RFID tag so that the system can identify the individual driver.

These are just some examples of common requirements, but the chances are that you will have different requirements. The chances are that our fleet tracking system can be readily extended to measure and report against your particular requirement. Contact us to find out more. or visit our *SPECIAL OFFERS* page by clicking the image below....
